Our goal is to get animals reunited with their owners. We follow a mandatory 5 day holding period for all stray animals to give owners time to find their lost pet.
As Kansas City’s only open admission shelter, we accept pets within our jurisdiction. If you are unable to rehome your pet after considerable effort, you can arrange an appointment to surrender your pet to KC Pet Project at the Kansas City Campus for Animal Care.
Our Keep ‘Em Together, KC program aims to keep pet families together in times of crisis and financial hardship.
KC Pet Project can help you find the right home for your pet through our supported rehoming services. We have several great resources to help support you in rehoming your pet.
Obtaining a license is easy. You can purchase a Kansas City, Missouri, license during normal business hours at all KC Pet Project locations.
You can take advantage of our microchip services anytime during normal business hours at all KC Pet Project locations.
