Fostering is one of the most important ways you can help the animals of KC Pet Project. By providing our temporary residents shelter in your home helps save lives and keeps families together.
We believe that the young, abandoned, sick, abused, and stressed animals that enter our shelter deserve to have the best possible chance at finding a loving, permanent home. A foster parent has one of the most important jobs at the shelter. Foster parents allow our animals to receive the proper care and attention they deserve as they wait for adoption. As a foster parent you’ll not only save the lives of animals in your care, but you’ll give other animals coming into the shelter who may not need the same level of medical attention, a space on our adoption floor to find their own loving homes. If those aren’t enough reasons to become a foster parent, consider these:
At KC Pet Project, we are working to build programs to help families stay together. We often have families come to us in need of a little bit of time, in a variety of situations. We see people who are experiencing housing or financial issues or maybe an owner who is in the hospital, and they need some time to find placement for their pet. Instead of separating those families through owner relinquishment and finding a new home for their pet, we want to provide a temporary home for their pet with a foster family through our Home Away from Home Program.
We are now taking signups for you to provide this temporary relief for a pet and a family in need in our community.
If you are not comfortable with the shelter atmosphere, fostering is an amazing way to volunteer for Kansas City Pet Project.
