Volunteer Service Groups

Why Support KC Pet Project?

If your group is looking for a place to give back, KC Pet Project is the spot for you! We have several opportunities for volunteer service groups to support the ongoing needs of the shelter and our lifesaving programs. Volunteer Service Groups are great for team building, increasing morale, and getting involved with the community!

  • Volunteer Service Groups are ideal for group sizes of five (5) or more.
  • KC Pet Project can accommodate groups as large as twenty (20) participants.
  • Volunteer Service Groups have a minimum commitment of one hour and 30 min, though more time is encouraged!
  • Your group can give service one time or, if you want to do more, we offer semi-regular and quarterly opportunities as well.

Requirements & Qualifications

Volunteers are essential to our lifesaving mission. In order for you to get the most out of your experience at KC Pet Project, there are a few requirements we ask volunteer groups to meet:

  • Volunteer Service Groups must be able to safely and independently perform all project requirements.
  • Volunteer Service Groups must meet the essential capabilities of volunteers requirements for all roles.
  • Volunteer Service Groups must schedule their Volunteer service in advance with the Volunteer Department Team. Same-day group opportunities are not available at this time.
  • We kindly ask all groups to provide a minimum donation of $10.00 per person, which can be done upon or prior to arrival. We also accept donated items in lieu of cash donations. If you purchase items from our wishlist, we must receive your tracking number(s) prior to arrival.
  • Volunteer Service Groups must have at least one assigned group lead per every 15 volunteer participants- if the group is mainly comprised of children, then there must be 1 adult per 10 children.
    • Leads must be 18 years of age or older and must have an active email address.
    • Leads should submit one(1) Volunteer Service Group application on behalf of the group.
    • Leads must submit a list of all group participants two weeks prior to the visit date so we can confirm we have all participant waivers on file.
