When Nancy saw her beloved dog, Remmington, hit by a car, her whole world stopped. She rushed him to an emergency clinic where she learned that it is was going to cost $2,000 to treat Remmington who had suffered severe injuries to his paw and leg. Nancy could not cover the costs for treatment as she is currently on disability. She felt like she had no hope.
Nancy brought Remmington to KC Pet Project to relinquish ownership of him because she wanted him to receive the care he desperately needed. When Nancy found out that not only was our team happy to help him but that we were committed to reuniting their family once Remmington had recovered from his injuries, she had hope. “He’s my kid; I’ve raised him from a puppy,” she told our team. Nancy was on “cloud nine” when she learned she would be reunited with her precious boy. “I felt like no one would help me, but I was proven wrong,” Nancy told us with tears in her eyes.
KC Pet Project gave Nancy hope. Remmington spent 45 days at KC Pet Project. He received medical care, hydrotherapy, and lots of love from our lifesaving team. His injuries were so severe that our team wasn’t sure if they could save his injured leg. But, Remmington must have been filled with the same hope and determination that his mom had because his leg healed.
We know that the best place for a pet is in a loving home, especially a loving home with their family. This is just one of many ways our Keep ‘Em Together, KC program keeps beloved pets in their own loving homes. This holiday season, your generous gift will help keep another pet and family together. Please consider making a donation to give Hope for the Holidays.
