Here are a few ways you can help:

  • Contact us if you are feeding cats in your neighborhood or surrounding area.
  • Our success is closely tied to our understanding of the cats’ feeding and habitation patterns. The more insight we have into where they eat and spend their time, the more effective our efforts will be.
  • Don’t feed the outdoor cats on the day before trapping by continue to provide water.
  • Community cats will enter traps when hunger motivates them. On the specific date of trapping, relocate the cat’s feeding sources indoors if you typically feed them outside. After trapping day concludes, you can resume outdoor feeding for the cat(s).

KC Pet Project only provides these services in Kansas City, MO at this time. Email us at: [email protected] to inquire about our services.

What is TNR?
TNR stands for Trap-Neuter-Return. Community cats, also known as feral cats, become great assets when they are neutered and vaccinated. By doing so, they not only provide an environmentally friendly solution to rodent control but also play a crucial role in curbing the spread of rabies. These well-cared-for community cats act as a natural deterrent, preventing the influx of other feline residents into the area.

Trap
Community cats in your neighborhood will be safely and humanely captured using specially designed traps.

Neuter
The cats will be brought to KC Pet Project to be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and eartipped.  Eartipping is the universal symbol of a neutered and vaccinated cat.

Release
The recovered cats are returned to your neighborhood.

Why We Don’t Remove/Relocate
If these community cats were thriving before TNR, they are likely to continue to flourishing upon their return, finding sustenance and support from the people in that neighborhood. Relocation is deemed both inhumane and proven to be ineffective in controlling community cat populations.
