Commitment

This is a flexible, summer internship requiring 8-16 hours a week and some evenings and weekends. This is an unpaid internship that can fulfill college credits.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in coordination and execution of KC Pet Project hosted events
  • Solicit in-kind donations for special events
  • Attend and support community events held to fundraise for KC Pet Project
  • Assist with Snuggle Services
  • Make donation calls and complete mailings as directed
  • Assist with data management and special donor data management projects
  • Write copy to be featured in donor thank you letters
  • Other duties as directed

Qualifications

  • College Junior or Senior preferred
  • Comfortable working with a diverse group of people and the occasional pets
  • The ability to write clearly and accurately using proper grammar
  • Open to constructive feedback
  • Self-starter who can work well independently
  • Able to contribute creative solutions to fulfill development and fundraising goals of KC Pet Project

The Development Intern for KC Pet Project should be enthusiastic about all channels of development and fundraising. They will be working mainly at the Kansas City Campus for Animal Care in Swope Park and occasionally asked to go off-site for events. KC Pet Project is a 501(c)3 that operates the Kansas City, Missouri, animal shelter at the Kansas City Campus for Animal Care.  KC Pet Project is the largest No-Kill shelter in Kansas City and provides care to the more than 10,000 homeless, abandoned, and injured pets that arrive at KC Pet Project each year.
