“My work is rooted in authentic connections — with individuals, our community,
and every pet that comes through the door.”

Megan Hanna joined KC Pet Project in 2025, bringing a strong background in nonprofit development and a lifelong love of animals.
Before KC Pet Project, Hanna served as Director of Development for the Kansas City Symphony, overseeing major gift fundraising, philanthropy events, planned giving, and grant initiatives. Previously, she was Associate Development Director for the KU Endowment, School of Medicine, and completed the Nonprofit Manager’s Institute through Nonprofit Connect.
A proud KC Pet Project adopter, Hanna is a devoted dog mom to Mason, her 7-year-old bulldog and pitbull mix, whom she adopted in 2018. She cherishes the memory of her sweet dog Kaylee, who was also adopted from KC Pet Project and crossed the rainbow bridge in 2022. Driven by a love of animals, Hanna and her husband make it a priority to visit local zoos on their travels.
A classically trained violist, Hanna has performed with the Kansas City Symphony’s ProAm and currently plays in the Northland Symphony Orchestra, where she also serves on the board. She also performs with Shoal Creek Community Church band.
Hanna values giving back to her community and has volunteered with organizations including Big Brothers Big Sisters Kansas City, Kansas City Women in Technology, the Lyric Opera through Orpheus KC, and ArtsKC.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Northwest Missouri State University. A native Kansas Citian, Hanna enjoys both local and touring talent in Kansas City, while exploring the city’s diverse cuisine and culture.
