Kia’s Story

Kia’s Story

kia4On Monday, May 6th, Kansas City, MO Animal Control brought in a little Terrier puppy who we discovered had been trapped in a car on a Kansas City tow lot. The impound date of the car was April 8th, which means she had been trapped in the car for nearly a month. Once she arrived, our veterinary staff determined that she was around 12 weeks old, dehydrated, and emaciated, but otherwise completely healthy! Once the shelter staff spent some time with her, we decided to give her the name Kia. She is now in a foster home and will be reevaulated for adoption at a later date.

The response to Kia’s story has been incredibly overwhelming since she arrived. You can see her story at the links below. If you would like to wish her well, head over to our Facebook or Twitter pages and post a message. You can also donate to her cause by heading over to our Donate Page and giving a tax-deductable donation. Also, you can view all of our available pets at http://kcpetproject.org/adoptable-pets.

KC Pet Project is the largest and only open admission animal shelter in Kansas City. Every day, an average of 20 animals pass through the doors of our shelter in need of food, vaccinations, medical attention, and a place to call home. We serve as a safety net for nearly 8,000 animals in need across our community. The KC Pet Project is committed to creating a No-Kill Kansas City and we are passionate about saving lives. YOU can make a difference for animals in Kansas City too by adopting, donating, or volunteering at the KC Pet Project!
